The Department of Social Services (DSS) is comprised of the administrative units of the New York City Human Resources Administration (HRA) and the Department of Homeless Services (DHS). HRA is dedicated to fighting poverty and income inequality by providing New Yorkers in need with essential benefits such as Food Assistance and Emergency Rental Assistance. Its many functions include facilities planning and coordination, design and construction, renovation, repair and maintenance, custodial and other building services, health/safety program coordination, lease and property management, land use and environmental review activities, contract administration and warehouse operations. GSS plays a major role in HRA emergency preparedness.
General Support Services (GSS) is recruiting for a City Laborer, who will:
- Move, load, and unload inventory items into, out of and within the Office of Facilities Operations (OFO’s) stockroom/warehouse.
- Safeguard inventory items, tools, and equipment from fire, vandalism and theft by being assigned a stockroom/warehouse watch.
- Remove debris from the stockroom and ensure that supplies are properly stored, i.e., stacked properly, away from water; etc.
- Report all instances of unauthorized entry into the stockroom, and vulnerabilities associated with the storage of inventory items including fire hazards.
- Perform emergency maintenance work on and as needed basis as requested by OFO’s Bureau of Construction and Building Maintenance.
Minimum Qual Requirements
1. There are no formal education or experience requirements for this position.
2. There are certain medical and physical requirements.
License Requirements
Possession of a Motor Vehicle Driver License valid in the State of New York.
